The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis
C.S. Lewis wrote this classic which is an entertaining and quick read. The story is about a devil, Screwtape, who advises his nephew Wormwood on how to turn a person of faith away from God. The more you read it, however, the more you understand about God, which is just what C.S. Lewis intended. It is a book you can read over and over again, getting a new insight each time. I hope it is one you enjoy.

The Shadow of the Galilean by Gerd Theissen
This story of Jesus is presented through the eyes of a young man who is ordered by the Romans to find Jesus and report back on his activities. Gerd Theissen, a scholar of the Gospel of Mark, presents the story of a person who always just misses Jesus. In order to get his reports for the Romans he begins to experience Jesus through the eyes of those who have experienced the ministry of Jesus. The more stories he hears the more intrigued he becomes. As the story progresses you begin to realize this is exactly how we all experience Jesus. Seeking, hearing, learning and slowly beginning to admire and love this Jesus who has ministered to so many. A beautiful story that catches your imagination and heart.
