The Sisterhood of St. Nina has its roots in Greece. The Abbess Aemiliane, was the first of the original Sisters of the Monastery of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Thebes, Greece, under its founding Abbess, Eldress Diodora. This original monastic community has grown into five Monasteries, in the US, Greece, and Norway, with nuns from more than 15 different countries.
Located nearby in Union Bridge, the monastery has become a respite for Christians near and far with the sisters offering gracious hospitality to all of their visitors. Grace Church has enjoyed a mutually uplifting relationship with the monastery for almost a decade. This relationship has seen the sisters participate in our annual Christmas Bazaar every year, and Grace Church holds retreats and quiet days on the grounds of the monastery. We support the life and work of this sisterhood by offering donations through their needs list. If you would like to make a donation to the sisterhood, we have a collection box located in our church entryway. A list of their needs can be found by clicking HERE.
12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 2 Corinthians 9:12
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9 ESV)
These were the apostle Paul’s words to the Corinthians. It is a good reminder for us today that our true wealth comes from God through the grace and sacrifice of His one and only son, Jesus Christ.
